Hi

Am fairly novice at building FX pedals, I have built a few kits and mostly been sucessful.
I'm in the middle of building a an Astro Tone clone kit and I'm testing the circuit before I wire the switch and cannot get a peep out of the circuit.

I've done the following:
-Checked all the solder joints and they appear to be ok
-Checked the battery I'm using works.
-Checked the cables
-Made sure all the pots weren't set to off.

I think I've eliminated most of the obvious stuff and don't know what to do next. I would post photos but I couldn't figure out how to put them up.

Any one got any suggestions?

Cheers
Dan

1) Post a link to your project including schematic and layout you're doing
2) Upload pics to a photo site like photobucket or imgur and then you can link or embed the photo here
3) We'll need voltages.  Do you have a multimeter?

Cheers for the replies

Here's some photo's. Since I took these I have reflowed some of the joints as some of themlooked like they were not on the pads.

Heres a link to the project, I have followed the instructions and made no substitutions other than putting in sockets for the transistors..

The circuit is 9V NPN. I don't own a multimeter but I'm guessing I may need one to get to the bottom of what the problem is.

while you're out buying that multimeter, have a look at breadboards as well. you won't regret it.

that slideshow facebook link did nothing this end.

and welcome to the forum.

hmmm, photobucket.

it says this album is private, than after a while takes me to a blank page, which I don't really have the patience to wait for loading.

so, no.

for when you get your multimeter (note: I built the earlier version, with a different R1, so the voltages on Q1 will be a bit different)

the circuit is just a couple transistor stages with some diode clipping in between, so you can troubleshoot a little while waiting for the multimeter.

hook your output after c2,c3, & c4 (one at a time) and see what you get (ie, trace the signal).

good luck

always think outside the box

[old_person_rant] I'm pretty sure the people who are writing all that code at places like photobucket, and dropbox and now imageshack, that takes 6 or 7 photos and turns them into a wait - wait - wait nightmare, that then scrolls when you don't want it to, and won't go back or stop, so you can't see what's there, and they wear their hats backwards and call you dude and say wassup and and and .... [/old_person_rant]

anyway, the pics are now "visible" .... do you have that meter yet? when you do, shoot over to the troubleshooting page and do what's there.
