hey folks
i have an old small clone which has worked fine for years with a battery or with an adaptor.
it has had its power inlet converted [ not by me] to one similar but not exactly like a boss one which takes a 5.5 x 2.5 boss style plug which needs to be centre positive to work.

so im getting it ready to sell and now it suddenly wont work on battery power but still works fine with the adaptor...............

tried two batteries checked for full volts with my meter.........battery snap read continuity but i soldered another in to see if it resolved it but no joy......

im reading 9v at the point where the red wire from the battery snap is soldered to the power inlet jack tag and also get 9v on one of the other [ there are 3 in total ]  tags namely the one with no wire connected . the third tag has a wire that goes to the board at the same point as one from the led indicator and i get nil volt reading on this one.

cant see any bad joints or loose wires anywhere....

any ideas ?  ;)

thanks
bob

This is how a standard DC jack/battery snap/input jack switch is wired.

As theehman stated...if the DC jack switch is bad....the battery won't be getting power to the pedal.

If there is a bad connection on the input jack....you won't get negative (ground) from the battery to the pedal.

If it worked previously and then stopped working....it should be fairly easy to find with a meter.

I just designed a new fuzz circuit! It almost sounds a little different than the last fifty fuzz circuits I designed! ;)
