I'm building an iRig adapter. Has anyone seen a plug like this before?  Am I supposed to solder to the two connectors in the center?

Man thats a tough one, I have seen them but not internally like that.

I tried to type out my guess but its sorta hard to explain so bust out that continuity tester. I do count 4 internal spots to solder too.

So here's my guess but you should use that continuity tester.

Googled TRRS jack wiring and got a bunch of images such as... but best bet is like Jim said, the meter will tell all.

Thanks guys. Sorry I wasn't clear. I can figure out the "pinout", but for the two terminals on the center post, do I just wrap my wire around the post and solder it?  There's a piece of plastic that's hard to see in my photos that runs up the side of the center posts and connects to the plastic insulator.  Here's a better photo.

You know if it where me I'd melt all the plastic insulation off..... Not on purpose just on accident haha.

Do you think that plastic on the side is to sort of hold the wire in place like a type of solderless connection.

I'd scuff it up with a lil sand paper wipe a lil flux on it wrap the wire and touch it with a quick dab of solder and hope it holds.

Man that's some small stuff, good luck John I'm sure you'll get it :)

The wire used looks to be thread thin so shouldn't take much heat to make a joint.

FWIW, I've seen these on iPods/iPhones. Here is the "road map" I found;

Thanks again, guys. Looks like I've got some micro soldering ahead of me. :)

I had trouble looking at the pictures, let alone a real plug!  ;)  Good luck with that, John.  Hope your eyes (or your glasses) are better than mine.

Yer good luck John. Keeping my fingers crossed for a positive outcome.
Do let us know how it goes.

Thanks Marc and Rich. I'm going to swap my iron tip for a tiny one I have. I'll probably do this after I finish DA's Abductor Delay. I've had a delay myself as I'm currently recovering from an excruciating kidney stone-the second one in two weeks.  :icon_eek:

Oh man. I feel for you. I have two of em in my left kidney that won't come out. They just like to move around and hurt me, just not come out. I passed one about a month ago though. Worst pain ever. It's the male version of giving birth, except you don't get a cute soft little baby. Just a bloody ball of broken glass. :icon_eek:

I'm sorry sir, we only have the regular ohms.

Geez fellas , That sounds horrible hope ya both feel better soon .  I think I've heard something like lemon juice may help the stones from reoccurring , Might wanna look into it. I passed one a few years back and recently cut out soda pop from my diet. I've heard something in cola can be a binding agent for the production of stones in the body. That info may be speculative but when you go through that pain your willing to try about anything so it doesn't happen again.

Sorry to hear that Mike.

I passed a 3x5mm stone last week from my left kidney with only a couple of hours of bad pain. The current one was about 5 hours of screaming agony. It was on the right side and now seems to have passed through the ureter, but hasn't come out yet. Still using a strainer looking for it.

I've had lithotripsy once, but since then, I try to give them a while to pass naturally unless the pain doesn't pass. It seems that during the lithotripsy, the doctor used a scope the size of a broom stick to look around up there and to install a stent in the ureter.  Lots of pain and bleeding afterward.  Of course the stent didn't have a pull string on it like many do, so the doctor went in later to remove it, again using a broom handle sized scope to retrieve it. This was done in his office while I was awake! :icon_eek:  I nearly passed out from the pain.

Yeah, Jim, I've heard lemonade is a good preventative and used to drink it religiously. I probably need to get back on it. I'm researching probiotics because there are some bacteria that release enzymes that break down the oxalic acid which causes the calcium oxalate stones I get. I've read about the pros and cons of avoiding foods with high levels of oxalates and about consuming more calcium to try to get the calcium oxalate to form in the digestive system instead of the kidneys. I think that the biggest factor for me was that with the cooler weather, I wasn't drinking enough fluids because I haven't been thirsty. I have to force myself to drink
