Boss dc2 signal through Q2

Does anyone know what the purpose of the signal through Q2 does. Is this the bass boost shown in the TZF article. If so could the Q2 circuit be modified for more low end to fatten up the DC2. One of my favorite pedals but it loses some low end especially in mono
