DC jack VS Battery snap ???

Hi Everyone!! I am really about confused why should I use a battery as a power supply ? Could I just use the DC jack as the power supply without wiring the "battery snap" ? Does it have anything to do with the signal clarity ?  (Can I just discard the battery snap connection in the diagram below ?)

No one said you should use a battery.  You just happened to find a wiring diagram that gives you the option (as many do).  But you can just leave it out.

The use of the battery is in case you don't have any 9v wall wat to plug into, the pedal can still have power.
Yes, you can take the battery snap out...
I wouldn't say there would be any change in signal clarity... except that sometimes some low quality wall warts can inject some noise...
In the first place, the when the power jack "detects" that there is a plug inserted, it disconnects the battery...
You can do well without a battery and save load of space as well...

And, when you don't have a wall wart, a discharged battery will also sound bad (unless you're going for a starve voltage fuzz sound).

If you play internationally, you would need a wall wart for North America, another one for England, another one for Japan etc and there are a number of different shapes of plug in the wall as well as voltages and frequencies.  But the 9VDC battery is a universal constant - they should be available everywhere and most effects have relatively low drain so you don't go through a lot of them.

One girl I know has a lot of North American gigs but some in Germany as well.  She is not all that well known but she does travel a lot because you should never turn down an offer to broaden your audience.

Use of external supplies, and eschewing batteries, is the very basis of the many "mini" pedals we see in 1590A-sized enclosures.

You can always wire a battery snap to a plug and use that with a battery to power a pedal that doesn't have an internal battery snap, does come in very handy regardless.

Both jacks can be mono if you're not using a battery.
