me? clarify? unlikely. anyway, you've now done the experiment. you had good drain voltage, and when you looked at the gate it was bad. the meter loading may well have been the culprit. here's another experiment - use the bad meter and measure the drain voltage at the same time as you use the good meter to measure gate voltage.

Lol, thanks for the response. I would gladly conduct that experiment, but I returned that POS meter this morning...

What would the predictions for that little experiment have been, just out of curiosity? I'd never even thought about meter loading before and now it's sent me down a rabbit hole for almost a week, so I'm eager to pick up any nuggets of wisdom that might help in the future.

Good on you!

So many "products" these days don't even work.   They should be sold as toys.

According to the water analogy of electricity, transistor leakage is caused by holes.

I was hoping the bad meter would [still] show the good drain voltage as you measured the gate volts w/ the good meter. either way, you could have observed the effect of meter loading [or not] on the gate by using the other meter on the drain at the same time.
