Boss CS-3 - Switching Issue ??

I have a BOSS CS3 that has a delay when you engage the affected circuit ...
The LED comes on as it should , but the audio is delayed for a second or so .

When you turn the comp. OFF , it works 100% , its only when you turn it ON ?

Boss effects use JFET switching, which has a deliberate but usually very short delay to avoid switching pops.  I suppose it is possible that if something like a capacitor is partially failing in one of the JFET switches, the delay could be extended.  Here are the goods on JFET switching: http://www.geofex.com/Article_Folders/bosstech.pdf.  If you are going to try to fix it, you'll need to find a CS-3 schematic.  Sorry I don't have any specifics for you.

Ok , so i replaced the caps responsible for switching in the CS3 with new ones of the same values , 220 pf & 470 pf  in C11 ,12,19,20 .
But i still have a long wait for the audio to come in etc ...

Any other ideas ...

Check your voltages around Q4 - off, on, and during the ramp up to on.  Gate voltage should rise to Source level when turned on.  I'm only guessing, but I suspect C16 is failing which could slow the rise (I think).  That's where I would look anyway.

I removed the C16 cap from the board to check it , and it would not measure up on my DMM , so i installed a new cap of the same value , and it now works fine , no lag in the audio when you switch it ON or OFF !!
