Boss HM2 clone: increase gain?

did we ever get suffice gain outta this thing? I put that section on bb, and it is still odd. the gain pot does control the gain of that opamp, same as in a dist+ for eg. I think the gain pot also sucks treble from the transistor stage as the gain is decreased. the 47k on the opamp side of that pot would be one thing keeping the stage gain down. and the 68k shifts the opamp bias (and the transistor volts) some millivolts, the stage worked without it.

NZer's not so bad, I can think of much worse ....
