Hey, so my first and only build, is the Deviever VFM. I have it build with a noise/chaos mode switch and a switch to turn it into another deviever pedal, I think GZ or something.

I like the pedal, but what I was wondering, is how I can increase the amount of control over the level of distortion/fuzz. It seems that the minimum amount of fuzz it will produce is very high, and has a lot of high end as well, and I'm looking to be able to reduce that without losing out on being able to create those filthy sounds. Any help? Simple as replacing a cap or pot?

simple as posting us a circuit. well, it's a start, anyway.

To tame the high end, add a simple tone control. Mark Hammer's Stupidly Wonderful Tone Control is a prime candidate.

If you want less fuzz, build a different pedal. Devi's "shock and awe" types weren't really intended to be rolled back to a smooth overdrive. The intensity control on the VFM is just an input volume control so if it's still fuzzy at 1% of input signal you can't go much lower!
