What are some uses for Charge Pumps?

Haven't been to the forum in a while with a silly question, so this one should be extra silly.   :icon_redface:  Made a couple of charge pumps today for my 'inventing box' (shoebox full of discarded circuits that sound pretty bad alone, but combined sometimes become something new and wonderful).  I am wondering if adding voltage to a circuit merely increases volume, or if there is more to it than that.  If a voltage sag can change the character of a circuit, can the pump do likewise?  What are some common uses for charge pumps?

Voltage inverter, positive or negative voltage doubler, create bipolar supply from single supply.

Common uses?
I would say...18 volts from 9 volts, and bipolar supplies
I just designed a new fuzz circuit! It almost sounds a little different than the last fifty fuzz circuits I designed! ;)

Also good for using centre negative power supplies for positive ground circuits.
