I'm doing workshops for local teenagers where we build fuzz pedals and learn very very basic stuff about sound. To keep things as easy as possible given the participants varying soldering-skills I've tried to find the simplest possible two knob fuzz circuit (a volume pot in front of the circuit is cheating  :icon_lol: ).

Im pretty happy with the below circuit. At one extreme of the fuzz pot its basically a Bazz Fuss with a 1M feedback-resistor. This gives it a less harsh more mellow character and more dynamic note sustain (no gating). At the other extreme it sounds like some dirty overdrive. Note that increasing the fuzz-amount reduces the volume.

That's a very good idea for a workshop!

Looks simple enough. This simple circuit works with low voltages, even with a 1.5V battery. Keeping the 9V battery you could add another pot and a capacitor to vary the supply voltage.

Cheers.

Awesome endeavour and circuit!  I'd love to hear it.

Also with the ps requirements so low, it's a great candidate for onboard guitar fx.
