I've been looking all over for about a month now and can't find anywhere about how to mod a Rangemaster for a "Tone" control. Can anyone explain or post a link on where a "Tone" control would go?

Some people drink from the fountain of knowledge, others just gargle.

Mac has a nice input cap mod for such a circuit.
its not a tone stack but try it on the breadboard

If you're looking for an input cap blend to control how much bass goes into the pedal, use a 100KC or 500KC pot in series with a 33nF cap in parallel with the input cap.

--------4.7nF--------------> transistor

--500KC lug 2-lug 3-33nF--|

You won't get much more bass above 33nF, but you can make it as big as 100nF before increasing it is ze goggles.

If you want a treble cut, you can just use a 100K pot in series with a 10nF or 22nF to ground and connect it to the end of the circuit. The output impedance of the transistor is enough to give a reasonable treble cut. It's about 700Hz for the 22nF IIRC, which is a little lower than the peak frequency of a treble booster, and it'll be a shelf filter, or you can make it 10nF and cut above the peak frequency (the input loading already does some of this, but it would make the effect sound more midrangy). This is less loss than pretty much any other tone control, and it's a booster, so you

The Rangemaster *is like* a low Q wah wah set to fixed frequency of about 1.5khz if the input cap is 4.7nf.
I ran LTSpice simulations with the blend pot and cap and it flattens out the peak.
Same thing if you roll the guitar volume off.

A rotary switch preserves the peak and let you set the desired central frequency.
IMHO, 4n7, 6n8 and 10n to 22n for full boost with a on-off-on switch is enough.

looking the rangemaster circuit I am going to attempt; looks like input to lug 1, lug 2 then to a 5n input cap wich has a 66k going to ground, a 470k going to V+ and then to the base of the transistor for the range knob.

I hope this doesnt turn into the echoplex ..ololol . admittedly, I have never gotten the EP together yet. I still have Cozys drawing I need to follow. Shoot...just not enough time for everything. I need to put that on the top of my to do list of experimentation although I am now hellbent on making myself a rangemaster. I figured if i was going to get a trebly booster might as well be old school germ and forget the EP. I still want to learn the EP as it is only 11 parts and should be a good way for me to learn circuitry.

What I am looking forward tot he most is learning how to bias a real germanium transistor etc for my needs :)

i forgot to mention in my thread that, I now have the graph-tek saddles on my strat. Still up in the air, not sure if I like them or not. Amazing how much it changed everything ..I can say for certain my strat is darker/bassier now and can except a pedal like a rangemaster or similar. as before the change, I was chimey already with a strat and a vox. which leads me to the question, why the hell am i wanting a EP so bad? no idear

I would like to hear forum members opinions on the graphite. or similar, style bridge systems ? After about two weeks in, I think I am leaning on the side of keeping them on over the steel saddle although I think there is something missing and might revert back ..its a plunk/splat trype dead string sound it gives off ..unlike the zingy, straty steel I am so used to hearing
