Hi Juppstein. Thank for the build report. I'm glad you have found an interest for my stuff.

I'm sorry to say that it sounds like you may have a problem with your vero build though. 
You should check the values of the components around the LFO section and the diode orientations.

I already found 47k resistors in place instead of 470k ones  heaven knows I should stop sniffing solder fumes..... It is still not how it should be but given that awful mistake with the 470k'ers I wouldn't be surprised to find other horrid mistakes. But I'll work it out, eventually

Ahh, those 47K resistor would explain your problems.
It will keep the pulsewidth narrow, not allowing the modulation to make it wider.
Glad you found a mistake, means you are on the right track
