i messed with it on a breadboard once~
i could never really get any volume past unity. i changed the resistance, and caps, but i only got faint fuzz tones. maybe more volts were needed. i only had a few germ's laying around that had low Hfe if i remember correctly. maybe a higher gain germ tranny would have produced more volume...

I tried it at one point, but wasn't fascinated by the results.  It was passable when using two Ge in a darlington arrangement.

Thanks to all. I tried too, and get a clean signal with distortion if I hit hard the strings. And a PNP version?
