aion flare project is soft knob supposed to be real subtle?

i am making the aion electronics flare fuzz factory project, i have completed it and it is a glitchy crazy fuzz monster!  but i have one question , is the soft knob supposed to be a super subtle effect?  it doesent seem to make it more like an overdrive or distortion pedal as the description implies and i suppose it cind of colors the tone a touch (barely) and the only time there is a marked differrence in sound is when it is turned when the whole thing is in full on oscillation mode. is this normal or did i miss something? here is the link, to schematic and description and stuff

I have the impression that it should not be that subtle. Try bypassing the series resistor with the pot and see if the signal cutss off at one end of the pot rotation. If that happens, then the effect of the soft knob is working
