Hi guys,

I've built the Barber Silver LTD according to this layout: http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.co.il/2012/05/barber-ltd-silver.html

Schematic: http://www.barberelectronics.com/Barber_Electronics_DIY.html

It worked fine, until suddenly the gain knob didn't add any gain.

I have checked the voltages and they seem fine, checked the diodes and got a good reading, checked the board for shorts and tried swapping chips.

Any ideas how can I solve this issue?

Thanks!

You mean the pot labeled "drive" in the schematic?  And by gain you mean loudness or distortion or both?  Does it seem to be stuck high or low or somewhere in between?

Edit - that pot should also affect the tone, cutting (mostly) bass as it's turned up.  Does that happen?

Usually something got disconnected or shorted.

My bathroom light worked, until my dad visited, and then it stopped working. (Coincidence- my dad does not abuse lights.)

When I tore the ceiling out to debug it, I found that the previous owner had done a *terrible* job of connecting the wires. One lead had popped out, and the other lead popped out when I felt it.

I admit I'm not sure just what fault in your schematic would cause "Drive does not change gain", unless the pot center lug has got shorted to the end lug.

And Welcome!
