Ok, this is my first build and i'm really enjoying debugging this pedal, because i was learning something, and from dead pedal i came to some wicked sounding fuzz, but this one has gone to far :icon_twisted:

So here's the thing. I housed some old behringer vd1 enclosure with hyperion i built yesterday and i'm facing some strange problem. Switch works like charm, but led diode is not turning off until i turn the volume pot all the way down (as i turn the volume pot the intensity of LED light is going down). I've measured the voltage on the battery and the voltage between + on battery and grounding and it was pretty close. I'm sure that it don't suppose to be like that but i might be wrong :D

Here's the links i used for this build.

So, where did i go wrong ?

Thank you for answers, and sorry for my English (not my native language)

Cheers!

hello dicencg - I had a similar problem with a millenium once, brightness following vol pot. I ended up changing the mosfet, and it came good. have you a spare mosfet?

also, if you post some photos of what you've built, we always like to have a peek.

Thank you for your reply :)

Yes, I have a few 2N7000 in spare (also quad checked the pinout, it's reversed) and i tried them, it's not working. Either it's the same problem as I described in the post above or it's turned on all the time. In the meantime, I made another hyperion and the problem is still here. Also tried with few suggestions i found on internet, like putting pull down resistor, changing mosfet, changing diode and some other things. And i also checked the off board wiring and found something rather interesting :D The circuit does not work well when it's out of enclosure, it's noisy as hell, guitar sound is barely coming from amp speaker and it's unplayable no matter how i set the pots, but as soon as i put it in the enclosure it works like charm, almost no noise (my marshal bluesbreaker is noisier than this build). So, i'm thinking that maybe i didn't wire everything in proper way, especially grounding....

Here's some pics i hope you'll be able to spot if somethings wrong.

Hello dicencg. Is your volume potentiometer scratchy when you turn it? It seems like there's some DC voltage on the volume pot which is keeping the 2N7000 turned on (and thus the LED kept on). The 2N7000 turns off finally when the potentiometer is fully turned towards ground. Try connecting the volume potentiometer lug 1 (which you now have connected to output jack ground) to the input jack ground. See what that does.

if you've followed that wiring layout, the mill may not work. you have no reliable connection to ground for the volume pot, as the out jack sleeve has no direct connection to the board/supply ground. at least until it goes into the metal box.

and the writing covers the lead run, so I can't see - the "common" lug on the switch under the grey "Milllenium Bypass 2" goes to the vol pot wiper, and the wire with the connecting link goes to the out jack tip lug. do yours?
