Where to find parts in Europe?

Hello!

I'm currently living in France and trying to build my first fuzz pedal.  I was able to get most of the components at a local electronics boutique, but they didn't have everything I needed - notably germanium diodes, a 3pdt switch, an enclosure, a HiQ EI-19 audio transformer, and two 2N6519 PNP High Voltage General Purpose transformers.

Does anyone know a good online source in Europe for finding these kinds of parts?

Thanks very much!

Dave

Also what circuit are you building? There may be some substitutes that that store would have.

here you are

wellcome and happy building!

I have ordered several times from banzai effect. Usually it takes a couple of days before the order is being actually shipped. 2 time some items were back ordered but send separately for free... I must say I am quite happy ordering at the website : I always get what I wanted !   :)

smallbear, although in the US, is also an option; with the $ being cheap the p&p is not really an issue.

you wont get a HiQ (high Quality??) audio transformer there, especially without giving any specification apart from the core size. or do you just need the core (hard to get)?

for transformers you can try Lundahl in Sweden or Sowter in the UK they are manufactureres but also sell online.

there's also www.musikding.de , better prices but shipping takes longer

hey!

Thanks to everyone for the rapid response!

In response to sfx1999 , I'm trying to build the tycobrahe octavia clone from fuzz central: http://fuzzcentral.ssguitar.com/octavia.php

Eventually, if I get the thing to work, I want to try and mod it for my bass...

Thanks again!

I recommend that you build the negative ground version instead of the positive one if you intend to use a power jack. Anyway, you could replace the 2n6519 transistors with 2n3906 transistors.

As for the transformer, look for something with approximately the same impedances. The choices in that case are not critical either. Something like a 1:1 isolation transformer with 1K on each side will probably work.

I was hesitating about that... I read somewhere that changing the ground would effect the sound... do you know if that is true or not?

Thanks,
