Toggle Switch instead of Stomp Switch?

Hi all. just wondering if its possible to use a toggle switch instead of the usual stomp switch on a pedal.
I have a pic attached here. Would it be possible to hook it in such a way that the "off" position would be in "bypass mode"?
Thanks all! PS: Also, does the voltage matter on the toggle switch?

If this isnt possible with this switch, would a 3dpt toggle switch work, I am guessing it would! But which one would I need, On-On, or On-Off? Does that matter? Cheers.

It depends on the circuit, but you'd need a DPDT at least for true bypass. The voltage does not matter - at this low level you won't have to worry about that sorta thing. 3PDT switches are used because you can bypass completely, and also have LED indication. DPDT is required for proper bypassing. (Though there are other interesting and more complex methods of bypass that you will discover soon enough).

THE 3PDT toggles that I have found online are 9pin, but the DPDT are only 6 pole. Maybe the 9 pole is the solution here, as its just a case of wiring it up in a similar fashion to the stomp switch which is a 9 pin. Does it matter that the toggle is "on, off" or "on, on"?

the "dt" part of switch naming means double throw, it will connect common-to-here (normally closed) at rest, and then common-to-here (normally open) when you "throw".

the poles tell you how many seperate switches are operated at the same time by a single throw.

so, and on-on switch must be xpdt, and an on off switch must be xpst (single throw).

Thanks. So, ON (1) would be the bypass, and ON (2) would be the effect engaged/led.

Since you can see the handle position without needing an LED to indicate it, a DPDT toggle switch will perform the function of a 3PDT stompswitch.  But you have to anchor the unit to the pedalboard or it may just shoot across the floor.

Thanks. I like the idea of a led with the toggle though :)  I'd be "playing" the effect pedal by hand, so I'll be holding it in hand probable, and not switching it with my foot. Not using with a guitar but with handmade synths and other fx.
