Need help with switching problem

I have an old Digitech PDS-1700 (Chorus/Flanger) pedal that is not true bypass and its getting some bleed through when switched off.  When in the off setting you can hear a faint swirl and tick.  It's only a cheap pedal but I would still like to fix it as it does have a nice subtle chorus effect.  Problem is, I don't know much about circuit design and this circuit is pretty large.  I can read the schematic, follow instructions and solder with no problem but as for what all the parts do exactly and how they interact.....not there yet.

I have contacted Digitech and they have graciously provided me with a schematic and layout.  Now all I need is some guidance.  :)

I didn't post the schematic (pretty sure that's not a good idea) but I have no problem emailing it to somebody if they think they can help.  Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all.

Are you wanting to make this true bypass?  If so, what I have done with a similar pedal is to simply put a dpdt switch in front of the input and output jacks.  I know it seems redundant or inefficient, but that is the easiest way, so I have another set of input and output jacks hooked to a dpdt that then feeds to the input and output of the pedal and leave the pedals switch always in the on position.  There may be better ideas, but this one is simple and effective.

Never really considered True Bypass.  I'm guessing what you're proposing would be kind of like a feedback looper with the pedal in the send / receive loop?

Fastest solution;

Make yourself a simple 1 loop true bypass box.
dead easy and great for any effect especially older ones with no disturbance of ancient mojo.

petemoore

Make yourself a simple 1 loop true bypass box.
Guaranteed to non-invasively take the box [including bleedby] completely out of the loop.
+ it's a very useful and easy to make item.

Hi!
You said Digitech sent you the PSD1700's schematics.
I have 2 PSD1700... both damaged.
I would be very happy if you could send me the schematics
Hope you have fixed yours!
But in case you haven't, maybe I can help you after fix mine.
Thanks!
