Hey I think my question is pretty obvious but I'll say it again is there any alternatives for the BC 109 transistor can version.  I saw a add for KT3102E and they say there the same?

BC239 is the same (successor, actually, same specs) device in a plastic pack.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Sorry I should have been clear about that. I want a can transistor   Thanks though that's good to know as well though

If you can't get the BC109 metal cans (where are you?) I doubt you will find a suitable metal can alternative much more easily since BC109c are still pretty common in my experience.

Don't remember saying I can't get them. I'm looking for cheaper allternatives if there even are any that is. Or does anyone atleast know a affordable place that takes PayPal to buy them. I've also seen a few different versions of the bc 109(different companies I'm assuming. Anyone know the more affordable make)

Many metal-can devices in the 300-400 Hfe range of the BC109 are available. If you need to spend under $1.00 a device, try a BC109 work-alike.

Those are unbranded raw stock (most-likely Fairchild) sorted to the factory spec and marked accordingly. Another candidate is the Amperex A104:

I have many other devices of the BC10x kind, but the ones that have a manufacturer name are a little more expensive.

Thanks so much everyone this is seriously really helpful. There's something about those cans that just look awesome. Because we all know how looks will effect how it sounds (rolls eyes, unfortunately it does help sell pedals though).  I'll be building mostly modded tube screamers and distortion pedals so I want to try and buy some other parts that will work more often then not   If you guys don't mind helping me I'll post some parts I "need", I'm very open minded to new ideas

Silver mica caps
Panosonic electro cyclic caps
Some jfet trannies(no idea which ones I should think of)
Kemet caps
On off switches( any brand so long as there afforable)
Any other part that I haven't thought of that would work with the same timeè
