So I wanted to paint some enclosures with a copper hammerite finish, I used the regular hammerite and it came out pretty good but I'd like a little more texture to the finish like the forged hammered paint, but I can't find the forged in any metallic colors. Has anyone ever come across a forged hammered in copper?

I know Rustoleum makes a line of hammered finish that includes a copper, though I've only ever used their silver and metallic light blue, both of which I was a fan of.

In this post Ii used Rust-o-leum's Hammered Copper colored paint. Turned tout really well. Much more texture than I expected.

...that looks pretty good, did you use a clear coat over it? Or any primer? I know it says you don't need primer but I figured white prime would make the color stand out more. Anyway sorry for the late response, still looking for that forged hammerite, just wana get some cracks in the finish.

I used the self-etching primer by the same brand. I also used a clear coat from them as well but not on the backplate. Just seems unnecessary to me.

I wonder how hammered paint reacts to baking? I'm thinking of  baking the clear coat over the decal on my next build.

They bake fantastic, get super solid. I've dropped them straight out of the oven and not a scratch in the finish.

i feel like thicker coats may lead to more texture, rather than many thin coats, but never tried it.
anybody have any suggestions either way?
if i were to try this approach, i'd still start with a thin 'dusting' coat or 2 (let dry between of course)...
again, i never tried it.

Thanks for the reply, I'll go for it.

I've had luck with better texturing by putting on thicker coats.

2nd on the thicker coats = more texture.
