Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forums, so sorry if I posted this in the wrong place.

But, if there is any further info, or anything you need, let me know. I can provide pictures, references, etc.

I've been messing around with modding DS-1's for friends for a couple years. But I recently attempted to learn about true bypasses, and have tried to add true bypass to my Crybaby.

It's a Dunlop Crybaby GCB-95 REV I

I used a 3PDT switch, with an LED and everything works fine, aside from the actual wah effect. When I engage the switch, there is no effect whatsoever. In fact, there is no sound whatsoever. Disengaging the switch, there is a great clean sound, no mudding down. So the bypass worked, but something must have happened somewhere. I'm at a loss, and have racked my brain trying to figure this out, wondering what I've done, or if there is something I missed.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Check your 3PDT wiring, it might something wrong there, if it's ok try to connect the pedal directly, without the switch. If it doesn't work you probably take the signal from the wrong places.

Thanks so much for the speedy reply!  ;D

The only issue I'm seeing with the wiring, is the resistor mounted on the wrong side of the LED. It's connected to the input side of the LED, instead of between the LED and the switch. Would that make that much of a difference? If so, weird.

...............I also noticed that my clean input and ground are switched. I think that might have something to do with it.  :o  They are switched at the PCB, instead of the switch. Easy fix.

I'm going to fix that and see what works... that's what I get for using a couple references, and confusing myself too much.  :icon_cool:

SUCCESS!!!  :P

Now to just deal with the issue that the pedal itself is too loose. I love the depressed wah sound, so I'd like to be able to leave it completely depressed without having the pedal/lever fall into the pressed position.

you might get away with removing and rotating the bar that holds the treadle top on..

ive removed them by using a centre punch and hammer...they come out on the threaded side

then just replace it,

it might lock onto a different spline and stiffen it up,....worked on mine

then again it might make it looser too.. :)

I think the amount of grease has something to do with it also. There was so much caked on, that it was dripping off of the pot, and had covered some of the base plate. After working with this mod, I have to clean up my entire work station. Kind of ridiculous.  :icon_eek:

I adjusted the retention tab/screw a little bit, and that has a bit of a difference. But it seemed to loosen back up again rather quickly. I think I may need to look into getting an offset screwdriver to see if I can tighten the bar underneath the pedal. I'll try the more simple fixes first.
