Does Voltage matter? Fuzz build

Hi, I am building some Fuzz Face and Tone Bender Mkii clones. I am currently looking for components for my build.

I have a question, can I use capacitors with higher voltages in fuzz pedal? Like 400v-750v?

I am asking this because I want to use vintage components as much as possible.

How does voltage affect the sound in Fuzz pedals? Hope to hear from you guys!

You can do that of course, but keep in mind that those higher rated caps tend to be much bigger, so you can find it problematic to fit them in a small enclosure.

I don't think the voltage rating of capacitors affects the sound in any way. But if you're asking how does the supply voltage affect the fuzz sound, the answer is: greatly.

You can see it yourself if you add a voltage divider to vary the supply voltage - usually the lower it gets the more saturated the transistors become, and the sound becomes "gated" and choppy. Conversely, if you run a pedal from a 12v PS instead of 9v USUALLY you get more headroom (sometimes it doesn't work, when the pedal is carefully biased or digital).

IMHO, the use of these "vintage" components was prescribed by production line principles..
(the use of only one kind of component of the greater rated value results in easier/quicker/shorter production which in turn results in cheaper product..)
