WM Fuzz EQ control - need explanation

Hi,

I'm presently working on breadboard in order to find a fuzz face that I like and I'm trying different things.  I was looking at the schematic of the Wooly Mammoth Fuzz and I have a hard time understanding how the EQ control work.  I understand how a simple cap blend work, but this one is different.   So if someone can give me a quick explanation of this circuit.  thanks

In Duncan Tone Stack Calc, it similar to the "Big Muff", but a little different.

Turn EQ to C4 side. C4 bleeds off the highs, you get bass.

Turn EQ to C3 side. R5 reduces everything, C3 bleeds-back the highs, you get highs.

Hi,

ok, it's more clear now.  I will have to try that, I would like to have a fuzz pedal that I can use with my guitar and my bass..  thanks

In a BMP, where you see R5 in this drawing, there would normally be a cap and then a resistor to ground, to form a high pass filter.  But keep in mind this is really a FF optimized for bass, so the tone control is a little different.  C3 allows top end to pass unobstructed, and R5 allows for a low level of full bandwidth signal.  So the tone pot pans between the lowpass filter of R6/C4 and a full-bandwidth signal with a bit more top, as opposed to the muffled sound at 7:00 and insect noises at 5:00 on the BMP.
