Cry baby rehoused help

I took the pcb out of a cry baby wah GCB-95 and put it in a new enclosure.  I did the true bypass mod and added an led light.  I'm pretty sure I have the 3pdt switch hooked up correctly but maybe I'm unsure if I used the correct potentiometer.  I used a B100k instead of the one that comes in the wah pedal.  I wanted to keep the one inside the wah because I have plans for putting a vibe in it.

All I get is a whine out of the pedal and the whine changes pitch when I turn the pot.  Did I not use the correct pot or do I have something else going on?

thanks!

This really isn't my field. I've never even owned a real wah (treadle).
My understanding is that special taper pots are used for this application.
Joe Gagan is your man.
You say the pot changes the freqauncies. Well it just may be a similar problem to what I've had with a recent filter circuit I've been working with.
Where if I set the pot at the top of its range the sound just disappears. I suspect it's because it goes beyond my hearing range.
The down side is I now have bats in my loft.
Why not use the old pot and get the pot you need for your vibe later. It may not need a special taper.
I could be wrong though. The bats are crazy.

Check all your connections again, Ernie...(welcome to the forum, by the way)!   Do you have a digital multi-meter (DMM)?  I'd double-check that your pot is the same absolute value as the original (often stamped right on them), and that the pot legs go where they are supposed to!!  <way important.  Miswiring that pot can make things sound bad...esp. the wiper (middle) run.

All things being equal, you also may have wired the switch wrong. It's easy to turn them 90 degrees by accident...so, you'll have to go back over all your wiring to be sure it's done correctly!   Until it's working, you may choose to keep the LED out of it.

Posted near same time...yes, the original pot would be best!

thanks, the pot inside the wah has the sprocket attached to the stem of the pot.  I'm putting the pcb inside of a regular stompbox and wanted a normal knob.  I like the envelope filter sound of the wah left at  a setting I just don't care for the wah wah funky stuff.  I guess I could at least hook up the old pot to eliminate that as being the problem though.  thanks again.

I guess having a set wha sound makes the project a bit different.

So, in essence, a %^&*ed wah. Nice idea, no real reason to put the c taper in then, but a Log taper may be more closely matched. I suspect the way it's wired as well, not the pot itself.

This is driving me crazy. I've hooked the Pot from the wah up to try to eliminate that as a suspect but it's the same thing.  No guitar just a whine that changes pitch when turning the knob. The LED works.  I even desoldered the 3pdt switch and did it all again and I am stumped at this point.  I'm hoping if I post some pics you can see where I went wrong.  thanks

WOAH, the pot is going to the switch??  That's not a mod I know about, man!!    I'm not familiar with that particular wah, but I've never seen a wah pot on a stomp switch...anyone have this model wah for comparison of what wire = what?

First, I think we need to know what color wires are "what"...as in "pink is the board input, brown is the board's output...".

So - is the gray wire with black outer jacket going to the input jack?

Which one goes to the output jack?

When you test, you're using just a battery, right?  Just want to eliminate some wall wart noise junk from that squealing thing...we'll get it eventually, Ernie, just need to straighten out a couple of things!

OMG!  this is a complete brain fart. I feel really stupid, I had the input and output guitar cables in backwards. :icon_redface:   it works fine.  you can delete this thread.
