Stereo Memory Man odd switch wiring

Hi everybody, first post here! I received a Stereo Memory Man with a broken switch; swapped it with a fresh new one and it works, but then I thought I could add a second LED so I can see when the effect is bypassed. I've connected the anode to PSU's input (resistor ahead) and the cathode to lug 6 (see drawing). It lights on and off but works backwards (turns off when the effect is active) and, most of all, it just hums. I mean, noise is all you can hear when the effect is on.
Could someone help me understand what the hell of a wiring is that you'll see attached? And how do I change it so I can accomodate a bypass LED?
I guess to make the new LED work I should jumper lug 7 and 3 breaking the bridge between lug 7 and 8 but am not confident at all with that. All I know is that's an odd wiring I've never seen before on a 3PDT switch.

Welcome!

Isn't your LED connected directly to the Signal Input? That begs for all the power supply hum to come right in with the signal.

I do not see a current limiting resistor?

Thanks PRR! The resistor can't be seen as it's "enveloped" into the shrinkable tube (the black wire on the right side of the enclosure: as you can see one side becomes white and points towards the switch [cathode], the other end points towards the AC inlet) it's a 1k 1/4W and connects to B+ (24V).
Yes, it's connected to the signal input but it's the only way I found the LED to work properly (turns on and off at the flick of the switch), either way it's not going to operate or would just stay always on as the already present status light does. That's why I'm puzzled by this switch's wiring...!   :icon_confused: :)

P.S.: I logged from another computer and I figure as "mantegna" on this one, but it's always "Ulrich Anders" writing, sorry for the confusion!  :icon_lol:

It's standard wiring for a single input/dual output pedal.
Column 1: Stereo out jack 4 is toggled between input jack 8 (bypass) and the circuit out grey 1 (effect).
Column 2: Main out jack 5 is toggled between input jack 8 (bypass) and the circuit out purple 2 (effect).
Column 3: Circuit input yellow 6 is toggled between ground 5 (bypass) and input jack 3 (effect).

You'd need a 4PDT switch to add a status LED.

Bang goes my mental sanity!  :icon_biggrin: Thank you for having pointed me in the right direction, GGBB, I'm glad it wasn't something I could ever manage to do with the 3PDT.
I assume I should replicate the same wiring on the first 3 "rails" of the 4PDT switch then have B+ reach the mid lug on the 4th (vertical) row and connect there my LED anode, is that correct?

GGBB

Yes - copy the 1st 3 poles and use the 4th pole to switch on/off the power or ground to the led.  It makes more sense to send power straight to the resistor to anode and then use the switch to make/break ground to the cathode since there is already ground at the switch.

Fantastic tip, man, will let you know what I came up with as it might be useful for future reference. ;)

I found find this variant...

... but this one only has DPDT switching. It leaves the delay connected while bypassed. Presumably you get instant repeat audio when you engage it since it is always listening. However, if you are using both outputs, the source is loaded by 3 inputs when bypassed! It might as well have fed the bypass switch from the output of U1a I'd have thought.

Ah! That should be the original wiring, I was told the broken switch wasn't an original part. That's quite interesting, though, as that could be used to get some trails (spillover) I admit I'm missing pretty badly! :D Besides, I think this guy's clever design would work with pretty every switching mode, I guess I'm gonna give it a go. ;)

You may think you are only one person, but the forum has two accounts for you. (Click on your nameS to find the account info.)

Years ago, on that computer, you logged-in and clicked "remember me". It remembered you (on that computer). Yesterday when you entered this forum on a different machine, you were a "stranger", you forgot you had the "mantegna" account here, you set-up a new account "Ulrich Anders".

Two accounts for one person is frowned upon. It can be mis-used by bullies making trouble. You sure are not making trouble, but it confuses other members. (Some of us are easily confused.)

The mantegna identity has only been used (not counting today) three times in June 2013.

I suggest you go to the machine remembering "mantegna" and click Logout in the forum header:

Home.. Help.. Profile.. Logout

Now log-in that machine with the Ulrich Anders identity, and leave mantegna behind.

If you prefer to be mantegna, do it the other way.

Perfect point, I'll also delete the "mantegna" account in order to avoid any further issue. Am really sorry for the confusion and the mistake, it won't happen again.
