I have a bunch of obsolete parallel printer cables that I was going to throw away, but I cut one open and found that inside the outer sheath there are 25 insulated stranded wires. The strands inside the individual wires are not copper colored. Are these wires good for building guitar pedals?

strungout

I would think they would be.

I pulled a whole bunch of pre-tinned stranded wire out of one of those monolithic TV sets years ago, which I'm using for my builds. They aren't copper and the work fine.

Yeah it will be fine, a couple of years back I was clearing out some junk and found a 3 or 4 metre long parallel port cable, got all the wire I'll ever need from it.

+1 on the wire. you can use the outer sheath for temporary vactrols, as well.

I second that ^
WhenI started out I was using the wires out of old Scart leads. I did experience some failure but not sure if it was my skills or lack thereof

Thanks for the replies.  I'm set for wire. I have four of these things.

It's probably 24 ga.  Maybe 26 which is fine for stranded wire.  Good harvest!  And being from a 24 conductor cable, in my experience these are the most flexible individual wires, in order to keep the large cable manageable.

"Tin color", right?

That's better.
