Contact mic into a delay pedal?

Hi Folks,
I have a friend who makes electronic music, he uses several guitar pedals in his set up. He would like to have a contact mic running into a delay pedal. I've not had any experience with contact  mics, but a brief look into the idea shows that impedance and signal levels from the mic may be an issue? So perhaps some sort of buffer or pre amp is in order.

Before reinventing the wheel, I thought I'd run it past the wealth of experience present here :D

Is the contact mic piezo?
In practice, most guitar pedals are sensitive enough that any mic type can be usable straight in. For piezo, a higher impedance than the guitar 1Megohm standard helps improve the tonal balance (but they will still have a resonant peak somewhere about 2Khz). It depends what it's doing how much that matters and whether or not a pre-amp is required. If your friend owns a graphic EQ guitar pedal, that might be useful before the delay pedal.

Impedance matching buffer/pre-amp schemes are fairly widely published -  search & take your pick.
