Hi everyone..
Im just looking for some good power supply schematic, did someone overhere have build the GGG ultra clean PS? Did it realy quite?

Which one is the best power supply regulator between L78xx and LM317?
What is the best capacitor value for filtering the PS?
Thanks..
Multiple gain stage followed by some active EQ is delicious.

Hi Agung,

For your first power supply, you may wish to try to make a small, regulated supply on breadboard, to see how the parts work.

I suggest the LM7809 for a first build, if you have a voltage source approximately 3 volts higher (12V).  A regulator uses a couple of volts to run...lower than it needs will cause it to drop out.   The LM317 will allow you to set a range of voltage, and is a very nice unit as well, but more difficult to understand at first.  If there is a choice, get both of them to allow you to experiment!  :)

If your power source is AC, you will need a bridge rectifier or power diodes (1N4XX series), and few filter caps capable of withstanding the power supply peak voltage.

What do you want to run with this unit?  That will determine what schematic you would want to use.  We design a supply to meet our requirements, such as "I want to be able to deliver up to 1A of current, at 9V, to my pedals, and I have an 18VAC transformer...".

What value capacitor you use will depend on the load current and whether you use a full or half-wave rectifier, as the ripple current will be doubled to 120Hz (USA) with a full wave rectifier...

So - what do you have for a power source, and what do you want to do with it?

This is my 5th PS project, hahaha but still i cant figure which one is the best PS for feeding my pedal.
But thanks if you could help me...
Here in Indonesia we have 220V 60Hz AC, im using 1A CT transformer which give me around 20V AC with full wave rectifier
Since i use distortion for my base sound, i just want to eliminate the low frequency noise. Im just want some low noise PS with +9V and +15V output. And is there any way to make the output current to be 2A?

No. (Not with limited parts availability-- there are switch-mode modules which will down-convert Volts and up-convert Amperes, but not in most local stores.)

Any well-implemented regulator should take the 50Hz, 100Hz, and harmonic buzz out of the power so it will not be a problem with any good pedal.
