G taper pots vs W Taper pots, Ibanez Renometer musings

Hey all, long time no post.  :icon_mrgreen:

Recently I've dug my old Ibanez No. 95 Renometer out of the cupboard.

It's probably the best sounding EQ pedal I've ever used, being broadly like a parametric rather than a graphic EQ in usage but also having switches for boost and hi-boost.  Of course, nothing is ever perfect and there are 3 fundamental issues with it.

1. It's enormous, takes up the space of about 2.5 compact size pedals on a board
2. It use 2 x 9V batteries for a bipolar power supply, no DC input
3. No bypass switch or footswitches for the boost options.

I've been thinking for a while about trying to build a clone of it, the circuit is actually quite simple and the only even slightly awkward parts are the inductors which I can get.  Other than the pots, I can't find 20K G Taper pots anywhere, with or without center detent.  W taper seems to be pretty common, with both tapers being (as I understand it) reverse audio to the center, but G taper is linear from center to full and W taper is log from center to full.

Any issues that anyone can see with this other than the pots will be less sensitive than they should be?  Has anyone attempted a clone of this pedal, or the GE-500 which appears to be broadly the same pedal?

Could of course just use a TB box with it, but that's even more space on the board, and besides, where's the fun in that?   ;)
