eversince I started to sneek into my older brothers room and listen to his records in the late seventies, I've been a huge Mothers Finest fan. I've been to allmost every show they played here in Stockholm since I was old enough to get in to the clubs. Last Monday and tuesday they where here and guess who was there both nights  :D  on the second night, after the show, John Hayes who has been a member of the band since 1989 came out into the club and started to talk to everyone around, thanking them for being there and so on. when he spoted me he came right at me and emedietly stated that he remebered me from many earlier shows and after a few minutes of conversation asked what i was doing the following night. as it turned out, becouse he is a lot younger than the other members he didnt have anyone to party with and asked if I and my friends would join him. So we had a little dinner and later went on to a club and stayed there until the securuty gards threw us out after they closed...I dont know how much I had to drink, but I was still drunk for many hours into the next day/afternoon....and as if this wasnt cool enough, hanging with one of my heroes, he even called me up later on and thanked me and my friends for leting him hang with us (! )...what a guy...
If you never heard of Mother's Finest, please run out and buy "Another mother further" from -78 its a masterpiece in funkrock...
...I know this is really off topic...I just needed to get this out of me....

Congratulations!

I had never heard them before so I searched a little for some clips.

I checked out a couple tracks and they have a great funky hard rock beat! Many of the lyrics are filled with positive social messages too. They sound like they would put on a GREAT live show. Epic Funk/Rock/Soul; what a great combo!

I'm glad you got to hang with one of your heroes :D. Him calling you and thanking you is such class. :D Such respect in the music scene where I live has been rare for a LONG time. (I know, it's sad)

In the US in 1980, I found they opened for Molly Hatchet! :D I'll bet that show was amazing.

Did you talk stompboxes with him at all?

Saw them a bunch of times in the late-70's and early 80's...they played in New England alot...GREAT prog-funk-rock band! Once they played with Pat Travers (with Pat Thrall!) and they all jammed together afterwards for a few tunes...with the famous "Wizard" on bass and "Moses" on guitar!

If you like them, look into a band from the same time called "Crack the Sky"...very similar and Jeff Baxter calls them his favorite band of all time...

gotta love all that stuff...
