ANY unspoken standard for Log tapers?

hi guys,

i know there are different types of log taper (eg. http://www.taiwanalpha.com.tw/english2016/p_e_111_13.htm), but to the layman buying from various retailers, is there any unspoken "standard" when it comes to DIY audio? are Shop A and Shop B likely to order the same taper to suit the widest range of customers in the field? pun not intended.

i ask as i want to mark out different bandwidths on an enclosure, and a Log pot would offer a smoother transition, but it'd be advantageous not to be tied to one single retailer. currently i'm jumping from 1/16th of an octave to 2/3rds in a quarter-turn of a pot, which isn't that bad, but it'd be cool if the user could fine-tune the higher Qs a bit more.

i measured a coupla Alpha pots - A10k and A1M - which come in at around 16% and 12% in the centre position, respectively. it wasn't the most scientific test, but thereabouts. so i'd guess that'd be labelled 15A by Alpha. interestingly, the A1M pot came from Alpha themselves as a sample, and i don't remember specifying any type of log taper (though i could be wrong). that's what they sent me.

cheers!

just heard back from a coupla retailers of Alpha pots, including Smallbear (hi Steve!) and, including my own observations, that's 3 pieces of evidence that point to A15 as the standard (from Alpha, at least). Google had narrowed it down to "A15 OR A10" before that.

i've kinda answered my own question so it's a case of curiosity now: i'm curious to see if Bourns, CTS and maybe Omeg are the same, given that some "netizens" (kickin it old-skool) say their guitar pot tapers differ a lot. but i don't want to send too many harassing emails lol. i'll look into it and report back.
