ok so ive come across a really good deal for a FF pcb, including transistors and all passive parts. Its from a very trustworthy source. The transistors are http://www.ebay.com/itm/2N427-US-Transistor-Germanium-Ge-PNP-Oscillator-Mixer-/191828454544

not these exact ones but 2n427s. He said he will match a pair for me. I know the FF will work will a wide variety of transistors, just thrown off by the oscillator-mixer part of discription. I dont know much about Ge Transistors, can anyone confirm that these will be ok? i searched for the term oscillator-mixer transistors with alot of the common know ones used in the FF, ac128, ac125 etc and didnt find anything. Would you suggest i take the deal with those transistors, or just get the pcb and source some better know models that have been used in the Fuzz factory.

Back in 1959, the BIG use for transistors was Radios.

Which have oscillators and mixers.

An osc/mix transistor is a good one. The slow rejects were marked for audio duty. The slow hissy ones went to output stages. The mix/osc is good for all positions in a radio. In cheap-think, they are "too good" for a fuzz, but that price is not intimidating. (Small Bear has what you want and possibly lower price...)
