Yes Tr is a trim pot by the looks of things. without providing us with the schematic you have, I had to look at another to check.
It's always a good idea to link to the schematic you're using.

Not sure about the transistor again the schematic might help, my guess is either would do.

Looking at the data sheets will provide my help here too.
You can usually find them easily with your handy dandy Internet search engine.
It can be a good idea to also search the forum for previous related threads.
Search is in the top right hand corner of the page.


Pots Tapers is lettered
A logorithmic (log for short)
B linear
C AntiLog
Etc

So 100kA is a 100kohm log pot.
Note most trimmers are Linear

Hey Toocool
How far in are you in the pedal hobby?
If you're only starting out, that's a lot of circuit to tacle and many potential pitfalls.
I'm not say don't dive in. However it might be wise to make some smaller circuits for a start.
This way you learn about what does what? When it goes wrong, you'll learn how to debug effectively.
I too would like to build a slow gear one day. I might even tweek it to my liking if possible.
Where are you upto?
I'm not trying to pee on your strawberrys. Just saying if your just starting with mediocre soldering skills ect I'd try a smaller project that you think will compliment your rig and style.
Mainly I say this because if you don't know the difference between pot tapers then a medium difficulty pedal build could be frustrating and put you off the hobby.
I dove in and made a Deacy Amp as my first project completely blind. I was fortunate the guys here and a another friend who did a simultanious build helped me.
Four years later I'm hacking out my own designs.
Hoping one day to build a tube amp but not that competant yet.

Aw, go on!  I built one of the small Ampmaker kits.  Easy and I didn't kill myself and it sounds great.  Go for it.

The WF-55 4W Champ-a-like.  It's a very good introduction to amp-building.  The instructions are dead clear and you'd have trouble ballsing it up.  I'm utterly paranoid about mains, and I was a happy bunny (natch).  I'd definitely recommend it.
