Popping on my BD2 clone

I built up a version of the BD2 following the gaussmarkov schematic, and every time I hit the foot switch, I get an audible pop.  I have a 2.2M pull down resistor at the input, which I had thought would do the trick in terms of stopping that from happening, so I don't understand why it's still popping.  Any thoughts?  Is 2.2M **too** high a value for that anti-pop resistor to be?
