Really Hot IC in Klone

I Just finished building this kit:  http://tagboardeffects.blogspot.com/2014/07/klon-centaur-silver-edition.html

I got every wired up and when I tested it I got a really high pitched noise but it was quiet and some oscillation when turning the volume knob.  So I triple checked all the component placements, all the traced on the back and the off board wiring.  When I started to check the IC pin voltages I noticed that the bottom (7660) IC was super hot.  I'll include pictures of my board as well as the voltages from the pins.  Can someone step in here and see if they can give me a hand?

Maybe I'm wrong but on your build D5 & D4 (D6 & D5 on schematic) aren't connected in series..  :icon_wink:

D5 seems to go to GND so +V2 is ruined..

Yea, you're right.  I fixed that shorty after I posted this but it didn't fix the problem.  The IC still gets super hot

If you're using a 7660 make sure it is a 7660S or you may get clock whine etc.

On that note....I switched to MAX1044 because my 7660's always seemed to get hot.

The 1044 doesn't seem to run near as hot.

Pin5 of the 7660 should have -9V coming off it. Also look at U2 power pins, pin8 and pin4. Pin8 should be ~+18V and pin4 should be ~-9V.
Remove U2, remeasure your voltages coming off 7660.
