So the guys at Krank are selling the Maximus kits for $59 with everything including the enclosure and all so I picked one up. Looking to see if you guys could think of any mods to make this a saturated heavy beast. I love the 386 chip and would think just a few value changes it can make this a killer pedal.

I've read "replace the 56kOhm resistor just before the gain pot with a 220ohm one for extra gain."

and also "Also, the 4.7nF capacitor at the input pin 3 of the LM386 chip was completely removed for a bright boost effect." I could probably put that on a SPST On/Off switch right?

Thanks everyone.

Yes - see if you can tack a 470 ohm r on the 56k. But with that gain boost, you may not want to ever omit that 4.7nf cap.

I plan on putting those sockets on there to try that out. There's also this from a thread here.

hi guys...

i added extra gain by adding a 10uf cap to pin 1 and 7...of the 386.........

it worked for me...lots more gain.....

one thing i would say is that i built the standard vero distortus max
and it is all ok ..except when a note fades right down i get a warbling octave type sound
right at the last dying sustain.........weird!..

any ideas why this would be..and has anyone else had this problem?...

should i try a pcb version?...is there one?...

rob.

Here's a good demo of the pedal if some haven't heard it, I'd like to try and make it more organic sounding if possible.
