pedaltrain volto / noble pre amp BAT pharaoh clone problems

hi all, looked far and wide to an answer to this question but....

why would a npn fuzz pedal short out a non isolated multi power supply? it works fine with voodoo labs, wal wart, wal wart daisy chain etc, but it will short the noble pre amp out when connected, and will only work with the volto when its plugged in on its own. any ideas? ground not absolute 0v perhaps?!
