As I suspect is pretty common around here, I've been using exclusively through hole components.  I'm thinking about making the switch to surface mount for resistors and NP caps.  Is 0805 pretty standard across the board for both?  I use 1/4W metal film resistors.  It looks like switching to SMD I would want 1/8W, 200-250V rated.

Happy to hear any guidance on this switch.  Thanks.

I like to do most of my builds these days with SMD, the main reason being all the resistor lead bending with the through hole parts is causing pain with arthritis in my hands so I find it easier and quicker with SMD parts. Secondly I'm sick of stabbing myself in the feet with those cut off leads from the through hole components when I'm only wearing socks. lol.

0805 is a good size for hand soldering SMD parts but you may possibly be better off going a bit larger with 1206. I still use through hole for Electrolytic caps.
A no clean flux pen and a small gas hot air soldering iron can be two of your best friends with SMD.
