I mentioned on a previous post that at work we use a fabrication company, and that i might be able to get some boxes made.

I know aluminum is best, but sheet metal is cheaper. A LOT  cheaper.  If i remember right galvanized sheet metal makes for bad grounding.  Is this wort persuing, or should I try for aluminum.

Anyways, sheet metal or not, i would have to have about 500 to 1000 made to make it worth while.

As far as design, i was thinking something similar to a russian big muff, but stronger.

Maybe we can work together. I have some leads on boxes, but maybe you can make a certain design (like the Big Muff) and I can have another type made.

Then all of us will get great boxes! :)

I found this company

a while ago when searching, I bookmarked them, and was going to go to the university and draw up a pedal mockup in their CAD program and try and get a price quote.  I don't know their rates, but they seem aimed at those going for smaller runs.

So is sheet metal bad, or should i stick with aluminum?

Aluminum is way more expensive.

i have had no problems with sheet metal, and as far as grounding to them, neitehr one is easy to solder to, but if you do the whole jack makes ground thing it doesn't seem to make any difference in my pedals.

ok, cool.  I'll make up some drawings, and see what i can do on about 500 of them.  I'd feel a bit more comfortable if a few were spoken for first.  I'm hoping they will be somewhere between $2-$3.  I'd even immagine that at $4 they would still sell.

Hey aaron.... What size box are you working on.  I'll try to keep mine complimentary to yours.  I like the size of the old black russian muffs. lots of options, and room to work with.  Let me know.
