Hello All, After having read the article at geo on the TS, I decided to give it a go at the week end. I had a rummage in box and bags of bits and came up with nearly all the parts, and the ones I did need my shop had them in stock!

It came together well and worked first time which is a good feeling, I have put two switches on it too. One switching from "stock" 4k7 and 0.047, to 1k 0.1uf. Because I liked the way it sounded and those were the bits I had.

The other switch changes the clipping diodes from "stock" two the opposite way round, too 4 in series with one in parallel. I experimented for a while on the pref board with diodes leds and resistors. in all manor of combinations. it is switched with a DPDT switch.

I pretty pleased with it so far but haven't had a chance to play it through my tube amp yet, due to a short tempered woman living down stairs  :(

One question though, about the tone control, its got a jump up when turned fully treble side, where by the full sweep from bass to treble will be steady the jump in volume and brightness and more gainy?!?!!? :? Has any one else had this? I have never used a TS before so I don't know how it is meant to sound, but I made one  :)

Oh yer and the chip? I tried a LM14** (I cant remember) then a 5532 and a TL072. 5532 and TL072 were "better" but between them I haven't decided yet.

peace to ya all

Congratulations! I used an original TS9 for many years, usually combined with an MXR Dyna-Comp. A great match up. The tone control behavior you described sounds like a glitch, but I am not sure what might be causing it. I still have my original TS9, but I'd like to build my own custom version at some point, mainly to have a true-bypass version ( my fuzz face and Rangemaster builds don't like it's buffered bypass). Let's hope I have your luck of having it work the first time :D
