Understanding LDR specs and Lux info

So I was looking through the catalog for LDR's from a local supplier, and want to know a bit more about how to interpret these things.
Just for a bit of knowledge gain, really.

The whole Log(R10/R100) thing doesnt make much sense yet.
10 and 100 lux seem very dim for testing a 'light' resistance.

They are thinking night-lights, dusk-to-dawn lamp controllers.

At 10 Lux you can hardly walk around. 100 Lux is more like a living room in the evening. Somewhere in there, you want to turn-on some light. Their 400-600 Lux pre-condition is a good bright workbench light; but also the very-late-afternoon sunshine typically soaking the lamp controller before it needs to come on.

All normal artificial sources are FAR short of noonday sun, ~~50,000 Lux.
