Greetings,
I built custom pedalboard and planning to put some power supply there. I would like to build some DIY supply, it should be connected to 220V AC, and there should be several isolated outputs (9-12V probably). I got inspiration from Spyder power suuply circuit (http://geofex.com/article_folders/oldspyder/oldspyder.htm).

For AC/DC and power converting I am planning to use something like this
https://www.ebay.com/itm/AC-DC-220V-to-3-3V-5V-9V-12V-24V-2-5W-5W-12W-Switch-Power-Module-Isolated-Power/381587304236?hash=item58d8602f2c:m:m9OzVnNe7v3EtTA9wBxuDHg
It should work pretty well in theory, but I am note sure, if those parts are good for audio, if there will be much noise etc.

Has anynone experience with these, or simillar parts? Should I use another parts instead?

Welcome to the forum.

Hard to tell if these converters are suitable for audible in terms of noise, never had experience with them. Their switching frequency is specified at the range of 50-150kHz, so at least there should be no audible high-pitched whine.

If you are using more than one inverter, the switching frequency may be above the audible frequency range but if you use two of them and they are, say, 1 KHz apart in frequency, you may get a 1 KHz beat note which will definitely be audible.

Hi Toaletak,

Can you find any information regarding the safety of these modules? Are they certified by any kind of standards agency? i just thought i should ask because while these things will probably work fine, there's no going back if they don't!!

A linear PSU (such as the Spyder) may be less efficient, and leaves more of the safety duties up to you, but at least you'd know that all precautions have been taken.

good luck either way! let us know how it goes, i am curious about these modules.

I don't see any approval markings.   That would worry me a lot on a mains powered module!

According to the water analogy of electricity, transistor leakage is caused by holes.

I built the Geofex Spyder:

Didn't receive as much attention as i thought haha.

Those switched power supplies look dodgy as hell. I wouldn't go near them. You're talking mains voltage here.
