Axis fuzz, (roger mayer) pnp or npn?

Hi all,
Trying to build one of these and going to wire it true bypass. I've been using the tb diagram from ggg. But I noticed he has one for pnp. which should I use. I guess my question is given that the axis has a pnp and an npn, does that make the circuit pnp or npn? Hope someone can help me with this before I wire it and it doesn't work.

It is a negative ground circuit.

Just use your common or garden true bypass.
