I helped a buddy move his guitar shop last month, and he gave me a box of old electronic parts.  Mostly tube amp type stuff, HV caps, carbon comp resistors, etc.  Dug it out of the closet the other day, and under some other parts I found four NOS Ge transistors.  They are all marked "MIX." on top, that's it.  Probably a house marking, could be roman numerals for 1009, dunno.  Three of them have hFEs around 40 and low leakage, one has hFE about 110 and maybe 300uA leakage.  Gonna put that one on the breadboard and see how it does as a Fuzz Face Q2.  Might be a good candidate for a Mk II Q1 too.  Anybody ever see markings like these?  Any guess what they are?

I find it interesting that they've included the fullstop, period

Probably so you knew it was MIX and not XIW.
I used to really be with it!  That is, until they changed what "it" is.  Now, I can't find it.  And, I'm scared!  --  Homer Simpson's dad

XIW seems to sound better?

I messed around some with these in a FF on the breadboard last night, mostly the higher gain one mixed with various others.  They seem to sound like crap, in a FF at least.  Maybe the lower gainers would make a good darlington pair.
