Hello again, I've built a basis tremolo using a homemade vactrol (thanks to everyone here posting about that stuff) . I based my LFO off of this

I'm about to incorporate another vactrol as the rate control-to be controlled by the wah pot as found in the scrathcless wah pot conversion article at GEO. I will also be doing this for my phase90 in a wah later on.

Onto the question at hand. Since I've gutted the wah enclosure I've taken the buffer out of the circuit in planning to use it as a gain recovery stage, bias it a little hotter, and just add a volume pot at the end of it. I've looked up a few NPN boost and MPSA13 fuzz schems and as I thought they are very similar to the LPB1 schem. However in the crybaby schem the output from from the buffer comes from the emmiter not the collector. I'm not super versed so its just puzzling me as to why that is. I understand the 10k is to bias the device.

Can one simply implement this device -with proper biasing to keep it clean- into an LPB1 layout?? I'm just trying to save some solder time and get this built hah.

I went ahead and built it with hotter bias, CLICKCLICKCLICK! to little surprise. And the guitar signal was still much lower. Though this was an attempt to a 100% diy trem, its a salty build.  I may get an EA kit and drop it in just to make this a bit easier ha.

Also the pot controlled LED/LDR WORKS GREAT. Really a worth while mod for other pedals I'd say

the lpb1 circuit has gain, a mid-level input impedance and inverts the output signal. the "emitter follower" has always just less than unity gain, can have way high in-imp, and does no signal inversion.

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that I do indeed have some 5088s that I could make an lpb with, I've just ran out of low value resistors for biasing, and I'm low on caps now as well.

If this should be moved to my post about this phaser please let me know:

Since this trem journey has ended at this point, I did take the LED/LDR control out of the unit and placed it into my phase90inawah. It certainly broadened the range of its sweep rate, but in the heel position its either so slow that there isn't a perceived phase shift or the resistance is so high that it locks the LFO. It is the same tone everytime I rock it entirely to the heel position. Some ways toward the toe position the LFO sweep can be heard, and its really hard to find the spot at my desired slow rate, since it is so close to the "locked tone".

I haven't seen any variants of the LED control out there, but I've observed that the LED is apparently off well before the end of the pots rotation from the treadle. I tinkered with cap values to no avail, but it seems the cure for this is going to be determining what will decrease the LEDs dimming rate-to-pot position ratio.

All of this and an easier way to get -notquite- the range I'd like would be to get the 470k HotPotz for it hah.

I just bought a 470k HotPotz for the phaser. It works well. Its got a useful range and it doesn't require power hah.

I've decided that I am indeed getting the EA trem kit for this tremolo adventure. All of the schems I've read show a 100k rate pot, and I now have 2 spare 100k wah pots. So its a win win and a learning experience.

I will try the scratch less wah pot in my wah before long, but I'm in no rush for that one.
