hey guys,
my bro jaybird bought an old echoplex. i fixed everything on it but the solenoid that pulls the pinch roller against the capstan to drive the tape.. it appears to be spent.

i showed him how to stuff a guitar pick in there to be able to use it, but the previous owner had shorted the solenoid together on the board to try and keep it "always on" apparently.

way above my paygrade... anyone have any idea where i might find a suitable replacement for the beast?

first rodeo with this problem.

it appears to be an early market electronics ep3 in the "smaller" box, and appears to have the 115v solenoid instead of the more common 24v one.

is there anyway to take these apart, or clean them? if i recall, it should just be an electromagnet that pushes out a rod, right?

appreciate the help/advice. i've looked on line and found a bunch of different ones, but i wanna try and be a bit more educated before i blow a bunch of bread on it and get a wrong and unreturnable part.

thanks brothers and sisters, ya'll the bestestest.
