Fryer Treble Booster SPECIAL Workalike

Hi All

I've got a request to build a work-alike of a Fryer Treble Booster SPECIAL.



Doesnt look too hard.  Seems to be his standard Treble Booster with an added footswitch, Volume/Gain and a 6 position rotary switch effecting overall tone.

My plan was to base it on the Cornish TB-83 and use the rotary switch to change the input and/or output cap(s).

So thats my question really.  Shall I use the switch to change the input cap, the output cap or both?  Or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Switchable input caps will give you the most obvious tonal diversity.

Oddly, a simple one tranny booster like this responds to almost any component tweak.

You will likely have more decisions to make.

Input cap switch worked really well.  I used 2n2, 4n7, 10n, 22n, 47n and 100nf.

  Any cap that sounds noticeably better from the others to you? sometimes i get a white noise like background  with the smaller values.

Yes the 10nf and the 22nf by a mile.  But that isn't really surprising as the 10nf is the standard
