Thanks for link to the enclosures, sometimes it's just better to go right to the source!  I'm not crazy about the look of the 1441 and 1443 boxes with their folded edges, but they are the perfect size.  Does anyone know if they are particularly flimsy/wobbly feeling? If so, it might be worth me looking at the steel options. Any thoughts on using an extruded aluminum box that slides apart?

I am planning to take power directly from the power supply for each module (the preamp and the power amp), and I won't be daisy-chaining them together.  The power amp appears to be designed to take the full 24V DC, and it has a bunch of capacitors on there that should do some smoothing (I hope?!!).  If I take power directly from the power supply to the 78xx regulator on the preamp section, will any additional smoothing be necessary (beyond the caps normally used in power regulator circuits)?

Would love to hear how the TPA3118 build goes as well!

Maybe get an 18V regulator or an adjustable one if you want higher voltage. There will be so little draw by the preamp that the regulator will barely know it was there, nothing special needs to be done.
